L’Occitane Bloor Boutique renovation

This weekend we were excited to visit the freshly renovated Bloor location of L’Occitane en Provence. The redesign of the store has an open concept reminiscent of it’s French roots. Beauty products imported from France were in decadent displays on the walls of the boutique. We received an informing tour with beauty specialist, Faith who also gave us relaxing hand scrubs and generous massages at the sink station. The store was crowded with members of the press and public who were pouring over the store’s new design and staple products.

The Beauty Box : CoverGirl’s Flamed Out Water Resistant Mascara

Test out CoverGirl’s new Flamed Out Water Resistant Mascara and make a bold statement with beautiful winged lashes that curve up and out. CoverGirl delivers the perfect lashes for every occasion making this mascara is available in 4 different selections; Very Black Blaze 300, Black Blaze 305, Black/Brown Blaze 310 and Brown Blaze 315 (see below). The unique wire brush coats your lashes for an instant boost of volume, while the angle of the brush works to give you a bold winged-out lash look. My only problem with this mascara was the brush size. It has regular bristles that is shaped like an hourglass, but is harder for percision as it’s thicker. My main issue is the end of the brush, it’s large and makes it very difficult to get those hard to reach lashes. I found myself using another mascara to reach those corners and tiny lashes on the sides. Although the water resistant formula will last throughout the day, just as any other CoverGirl products have proved to us. The formula will add a decent length and significant amount of volume to your lashes. If you are a fan of a thicker brush, then this mascara would be great pick for you!

Other reasons why I won’t switch from my favourite CoverGirl Clump-Free mascara are because after a long day of wear I did experience a little flaking and as the bottle gets older it becomes clumpy.

Montreal Fashion Week : TRAVIS TADDEO

Once again Travis Taddeo presented his collection without a runway show. Models sat looking indifferent, checking their phones or donned bored faces to mask the look of Taddeo’s potential customers. The young and edgy will love his minimalist SS14 line in navy, white, grey and black solids. Jersey dresses, hooded sleeveless vests and plain button down tops were styled with baseball caps and shoes of the same colour. Guests mingled and watched the models in the simple pieces.

The Beauty Box : Make Up For Ever’s Blue Sepia Palette

For a great fall colour palette try out Make Up For Ever’s new Blue Sepia Palette that includes 8 eye shadows. Petrol Blue, the it-shade of the season, is paired with a range from pale beige to dark browns in matte and satin textures. The black shades are used to accentuate the depth of the eyes while the light pink is used to illuminate and contrast the make-up of the eyelids. The petrol blue works to give the eyes a pop of colour for a great fall look. Following the fall power brow trend the set also has 2 adapted shadows specifically made to use for eyebrow make-up (#17 Espresso and #127 Metallic Taupe). Montreal Fashion Week : Martin Lim

Danielle and Pao have partnered up again to create an anticipated SS14 line that definitely surprised us!  Loosely fitting the silhouette of the purse lipped models, black and white pieces dominated the runway at Martin Lim’s show. Shorts with racer stripes on the outer thigh were styled with simple v-necked ts that were decorated with a jellyfish image. The casual looks were simple and functional and we loved a peter pan collared shirt with thin black line detailing matched a skinny pair of white bottoms. Our favourite look was the closing look; a peach dress tiered in thin material with a striking black hemline and branded with a white jellyfish.

Montreal Fashion Week : BODYBAG by Jude

Surfs up! BODYBAG by Jude will feature a bright SS14 collection designed by Judith Desjardins who launched the label in 1998. With white lips and slick hair the models wore pieces that ranged from fun in the sun to lunch on the terrace to summer night beachwear. Loose materials shifted and hugged with every step in several dresses. We loved the black and white striped pants paired with a low neckline black jacket; an alternative to the basic cover-up.
